Admission Procedure

Admission procedure for the academic year 2026-2027

Dear students, dear parents,

For the academic year 2026–2027, the Athénée de Luxembourg will organise admission tests for entry into the following grades of our international classes:

  • Grade 7
  • Grade 10
  • Grade 11

Please note that no admissions are possible into other grades due to the absence of available places.

 

1. Eligibility Requirements

In order to apply for admission, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 7 : Completion of primary education by July 2026 and date of birth before 31 August 2015.
  • Grade 10 : Completion of Grade 9/S3 by July 2026 and date of birth before 31 August 2012.
  • Grade 11 : Completion of Grade 10/S4 by July 2026 and date of birth before 31 August 2011.

2. Admission Tests

All candidates are required to sit admission tests in the following subjects:

  • Grade 7 : English and Mathematics
  • Grade 10 : English, Mathematics, and French (minimum level A2 of the CEFR)
  • Grade 11 : English, Mathematics, and French (minimum level A2+ of the CEFR)

3. Application Timeline and Steps

The admission procedure consists of four main steps:

 

1. Registration Form

Complete the online registration form between 19 January and 1 March 2026 (18:00 CET). [The registration link will be posted here]

 

2. Portfolio Submission

Submit the required portfolio by 15 March 2026 (18:00 CET) to: ib@al.lu

 

3. Admission Day (On site)

  • Grade 7 : 14 April 2026
  • Grades 10 & 11 : 16 April 2026

During Admission Day, applicants will participate in written tests and an oral with a board of examiners. Please note the dates are final and cannot be adjusted for personal convenience.

 

4. Publication of Results

Results will be communicated on 20 April 2026.

 

4. Information Provided Upon Registration

Once the registration form has been received, applicants will be sent an information package containing :

  • Detailed programmes for the admission tests
  • Requirements of the portfolio
  • Practical information regarding the admission procedure

 

5. Open Day – Save the Date

We cordially invite you to our Open Day on Thursday, 15 January 2026 at 18:30, where you will receive a general presentation of our international classes and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, followed by a guided tour of our campus.
